Recently we discussed the Miskito Coast Popper/Dropper Rig. The response was very good, however, a number of customer requested information on how to make your own popper/dropper rig. For a video on the subject go to www.BreamBugs.com, under “Product Categories” click on “Leaders” and scroll down to the Miskito Coast Popper/Dropper Rig. Here you will find a video showing how to make your own popper/dropper rig titled “Some bream fly fishing basics”.
These bugs and poppers are unique in a couple of ways. First, the bodies of both the Bad Boy and the Bea’s Popper are made from the root of the Tupelo Tree. This feature assures that the paint adheres well to the body of the bug and it floats properly on the water. Second, these are the lowest priced high quality top water lures on the BreamBugs site priced at only $3.30 each. Available in hook sizes 8 and 10 in most styles. There are 19 different patterns to choose from. See them all at: www.BreamBugs.com
If you are anything like me your focus is on having a variety of flies in your tackle box. While having a good selection of flies is important, don’t overlook the necessity of having a quality fly line cleaner in your tackle box. A quality fly line cleaner will help your line shoot smoothly and float properly. We have tried several types and brands of fly line dressing and the best we have found is the RIO AgentX Fly Line Cleaner Kit. Find it under Accessories at www.BreamBugs.com
Walt Cary has done it again, created two Fire Tiger Sliders and a Frog Slider. The cover of Fly Tyer magazine, Autumn 2011 issue, featured Walt’s original Fire Tiger Popper. See all of Walt Cary’s poppers and sliders at: www.BreamBugs.com
The BreamBugs technical staff had another successful trout fly fishing outing. Five of us caught a total of 69 pounds of Rainbow Trout in two days of fly fishing. Largest trout caught was 3.5 pounds. The most productive wet fly was our Marabou Skunk, Black and White, short streamer and the most productive dry fly was our Olive Hopper. If you have never been to the Rockbridge Rainbow Trout Ranch – – – plan a trip, you won’t regret it. See all our trout flies (and bluegill and bass flies, too) at: www.BreamBugs.com
