Todd,
I, too, have been trying to reach anyone at Gaines for the last two years. I even called the Gaines, PA township, but got no help. The industry rumors are that Gaines went out of business or they sold the company to someone else. Neither have I been able to verify. If you learn the truth, please, let me know. Thanks. If Gaines were smart, they'd start using SILICONE for their legs.. Not a lot of extra cost, but a heck of a lot longer lasting!
I just unpacked a dozen of their poppers from between 20 and 30 years ago.. Rubber hadn't totally gone, but did take the shape of the bubble pack where it rested against the plastic.
Other than that, they're still in great shape and ready to go about their business on bass and panfish. (And an occasional inquisitive trout!)

Yes, Gaines uses a softer rubber for their Sneaky Pete legs. I suggest you take a look at the Pultz Bream Sliders. They are similar to the Gaines Sneaky Pete but they have heavier rubber legs.
